Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Performs In Baraboo Dec. 9

The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra returns for the third year to the prettiest playhouse in America, the historic Al. Ringling Theatre in Baraboo, Wis., to present Handel’s most well known work, Messiah, on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. The Orchestra will perform with the recently established Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Chorus along with the Festival Choir of Madison, Madrigal Singers and four powerful soloists: soprano Stacey Tappan, alto Emily Lodine, tenor James Doing and bass James Van De Graaff.

This 34-musician core orchestra led by Maestro Andrew Sewell is one of the finest chamber orchestras in the country. It usually performs about 25 times a year in its permanent home, the Overture Center in Madison, Wis. The Festival Choir is a mixed-voice choir of about 40 auditioned signers founded in 1973.

Ringling Theatre, Baraboo, 7:00 p.m. A quartet with a tambourine, Tonic Sol Fa is one the nation’s top vocal groups receiving original song and album awards in pop, gospel and holiday genres. Friday, Dec. 7:  Tom Troestler at the River Arts On Water Gallery, Prairie du Sac, 7:00 p.m. An interactive evening as Troestler demonstrates and plays various harmonicas while sharing stories of his travels as an airline pilot. The Gallery hosts casual, intimate concerts with café-style seating and refreshments. No advance ticket sales, but donations are recommended at the door to benefit the River Arts Inc. programming.
