The wooded and prairie landscapes draped in a coat of fluffy snow are more alluring to some of us. Perhaps it’s the way the crisp winter air invigorates you to explore more. Or the sky against the white blanket seems a brighter blue, or the naked trees reveal all of their organic design. But when you tour our natural spaces under the reflective light of a full moon or a candlelit trail, the sparkling scenery is enchanting.
The Friends of Mirror Lake State Park in Lake Delton, Wis., 20 minutes north of the Inn, will host its second candlelight ski, hike and snowshoe of the season on Saturday night, Feb. 2, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The event welcomes you regardless of your preferred mode of transportation, cross-country ski, snowshoe or hiking boot. There are two one-mile trails lit by torches, one for skiers and one for everyone else. The Friends will have two bon fires roaring and you can purchase food and refreshments, if you wish.
Meet at the beach picnic area. If you have questions, call 608-254-2333 or e-mail them to [email protected]. Remember to get a new annual park admission sticker or a daily pass beforehand or as you arrive
By the dawn of February there will still be enough light from the prior week’s full moon to illuminate the Inn’s three-miles of snowshoe trails, if you’d rather stay close to our winter retreat. Use our Redfeather snowshoes, made in La Crosse, Wis.
Come play in the snow with us, by day and night!
