Ride The Snow Train With Your Valentine

The Mid-Continent Railway Museum in North Freedom, Wis., will run its 39th Annual Snow Train™ Feb. 15–17, 2013. It offers standard and first-class services, and a dinner train. All include a 55-minute ride in restored cars heated by steam or coal-fired stoves along seven miles of the former Chicago & North Western Railroad line that meanders through the snow-covered Baraboo Hills, seven miles west of Baraboo, Wis.

Treat your sweetheart to a unique gift for Valentine’s Day — a multi-course gourmet meal served aboard the Snow Train™ at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 or Feb. 16, 2013. Uniformed staff will serve dinner and beverages in the Museum’s restored Soo Line 2017, a dinner-lounge car built in 1914, and in the 1923 business car C & NW 440.

The dinner train requires reservations, so call 800-930-1385 or purchase your dinner-train fares online here. Dinner tickets are $85.00 per person.

The Museum recommends reservations for its first-class service, offered at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 16 and 17. First-class service includes snacks and beverages served by uniformed staff and costs $40.00 per person.

Standard fare is $21.00 per person and available at various times Feb. 15–17. Learn more at or call 800-930-1385, Monday–Friday.

Save time to browse the indoor and outdoor restored, vintage railway equipment displays.

The Mid-Continent Railway Museum is an outdoor living-history museum operated by the volunteer members of the Mid-Continent Railway Historical Society. The Society has recreated and preserved the short-line railroad experience of Midwestern small towns from the 1880s to 1916, which was the golden age of railroading in America.

The Museum will resume its weekend-only service May 4, 2013, and its full-time season June 1, 2013.

The Inn at Wawanissee Point is 25 minutes from the Mid-Continent Railway Museum.
