Friday Night Fish Fries At Devil’s Lake State Park Begin June 2

Friday night fish fry at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wis., resumes June 2, 2017 and continues until Labor Day. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. enjoy a hearty supper under the towering oaks along Devil’s Lake’s north shore, or indoors in the historic Chateau if it’s raining.

Elite Catering of Baraboo will again offer two pieces of fish, one piece of chicken and three side dishes for $11.50. Purchase a beverage from the park’s North Shore Concessions, and an ice cream cone for dessert!

Afterward explore the park…

Paddle the peaceful lake during a guided kayak tour Friday evenings Memorial Day through Labor Day. As you paddle the 360-acre lake surrounded towering cliffs, you’ll learn about the park’s history, geology and the lake’s wildlife. All skill levels are welcome.

  • Rent a kayak from the North Shore Concessions at the Chateau, $25 for a single or $45 double. Or bring yours.
  • Space is limited and registration is required, but admission is free. Register for tours and reserve a kayak by calling the Nature Center at 608-356-8301 ext. 140 or
  • Tours begin at 6:30 pm in the early summer and earlier as the summer progress. See a complete list of kayak tour dates and times in this blog article

Watch the sun set from the East Bluff Trail from atop the 500-foot quartzite cliff. Access this trail from either the north or south shore. Pick up the new, color trail map in the north shore’s Nature Center or download it here. Take a flashlight to descend through the wooded sections at dusk.

Avoid Lines, Buy Admission Sticker Before You Come

  • Long lines at the park entrances' Visitor Centers where you purchase a day or annual vehicle admission sticker are becoming more common in the summer and nice-weather weekends year-round. Purchase a sticker online from the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks HERE. Here you can also donate to help keep the parks open despite severe state funding cuts.
  • Allow a few days for your sticker to arrive by mail before you depart for Baraboo.

Then order our s’mores kit and enjoy the fireflies dancing in the prairie as you snuggle by the campfire on the secluded terrace at our Inn at Wawanissee Point bed and breakfast, five minutes west of the park.

Book a guest room before they’re gone. Summer weekends fill early.
